John Wilson Skates
John Wilson Skates of Sheffield, England is one of the most recognized names in the ice skating world. Their history dates back more than 300 years. In 1696, King Charles II, the newly restored British monarch, had become fascinated with ice skating during his exile in Holland and wanted to introduce the sport to his court.
King Charles II requested that John Wilson, a noted toolmaker of that era, make a pair of skate blades for him, and the world of ice skating has not been the same since. The reputation of John Wilson grew, and in 1841, Queen Victoria instructed the company to make her and Prince Albert a pair of ice-skates. Today, John Wilson continues to be considered the standard of excellence for figure skaters around the world.
Mitchell & King
Mitchel & King Skates were founded in 1946. The company quickly evolved into one of the world’s leading blade manufacturers. The company’s flagship product, known as MK Blades, won its first world championship in 1951 and has been worn by national, world and Olympic champions ever since. During the last 60 years, all European, World and Olympic Dance Championships have been won on MK blades. In 1978, the company was honored by Queen Elizabeth II with the Queen’s award for export.
